ROLES OF BRAVE ELDERS
BRAVE is committed to the Bible’s teaching that men who hold the offices of Elder are to oversee various functions of the local church. The Bible’s teaching on the subject of two church offices is found in 1 Timothy 3:1-16 and Titus 1:5-9. Although there are three terms used for the offices of the church (i.e. bishop, elder and deacon), analysis of these terms indicates that bishop and elder are used interchangeably.
WE ARE GUIDED BY OUR SHEPHERDING ELDERS
The Shepherding Elders are Biblically qualified men called by God to guide the church at BRAVE. These men pastor the flock of God and are responsible for the spiritual vitality of the congregation. They regularly pray and seek the face of the Lord. They labor to care for the needs of our people and also to protect against factions within the Body of Christ. These men meet regularly to assist the ministries of the Campus Pastor to ensure that the people at BRAVE are led in the ways of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every campus has their own Shepherding Elders who function under the authority of the Campus Pastor.
WE ARE PROTECTED BY OUR STEWARDING ELDERS
The Stewarding Elders are Biblically qualified men called by God to protect the church at BRAVE. These men help provide fiscal, fiduciary and legal counsel for all the ministries at BRAVE. They regularly meet to ensure responsibility and accountability for all the resources received through BRAVE so that they are managed in a way that honors the Lord and fulfills His vision. They also oversee a yearly annual audit and approve the annual budget for all the ministries of BRAVE, including the church, academy and media.
WE ARE STRENGTHENED BY OUR SUPERVISING ELDERS
The Supervising Elders are Biblically qualified men called by God to strengthen the church at BRAVE. They are comprised of Senior Pastors and Elders, who have or are presently faithfully serving large churches with a long track-record of faithfulness and fruitfulness in their personal lives, marriage, and ministry. These men provide spiritual oversight through leadership, wisdom, [or teaching] and regularly counsel, coach and mentor the Senior Pastor. They are also capable to step-in and serve in the event the Senior Pastor is no longer able to faithfully fulfill his calling.
